Atonement

Adapted from McEwan's book, this Joe Wright's (also directs Pride and Prejudice) movie moves us with it's superb and stunning directions and display of how a story should be told.

There are many things I love about this movie, apart from the fact that James McAvoy is such excellence of an actor. The background soundtrack gaves us a fresh approach to how a movie should come about. The flip flopping of scenes throw us off guard to how a story should run, and the way it did, make it one of the most inspiring movie editing as far as this late year is concerned.

Only one glitch though, and an unforgiven one at that. The ending, I feel is too stunted, unappealing, and as much as I love the way the story unfolds, it did not leave a strong emotional attachment to how a love story to hold the viewers. It did not hold the viewers' attachment after the movie ends, which I think a good story gone wasted. It should not lost focus, it should not compromise on the ending when the 1st hour is stunningly beautiful and inspiring.

I think one of the main reason to the stunning visual to the first part of the Atonement is Saoirse Ronan. Watching her is a fascinating. Her resolve to act out a naive, idealistic kid with too much of an imaginative heart leave us breathless. Working her way through a brief 45 minuts of the movie throw Kiera out of the contention to be a the visible main actress.
